Friday Favorites 2.16.18

Happy Friday everyone! This Friday is especially happy for me because it is my birthday!
At first Mike and I were planning to go out to dinner tonight, but after I really thought about it I realized that all I wanted to do was hang out with him at home, child free, and watch movies. Myself 5 years ago would be shocked!

Here are some things I've been loving in the internet world this week!
I am all about the new Easter Hosting collection by Magnolia Homes for Target!

I am totally going to utilize these Nursery Closet Dividers free printable!

I have no words for how excited I was to hear that Polly Pockets are Coming Back!

This post on 7 Beauty Lessons I wish I Knew 7 Years Ago is something I can totally relate to!

I loved reading The Best Facial Oils For Dry Skin - very winter appropriate!

Gotta love these Bizarre Beauty Facts - the one about NYX was my fave!

This week I watched What Happened to Monday on Netflix - I don't know how I'm going to begin to describe this movie other than I absolutely loved it. I'm making Mike watch it with me tonight. I am a already a huge fan of the actress Noomi Rapace ever since her Girl with the Dragon Tattoo days which is why I wanted to watch this movie. It's set in a dystopian future where multiple births are forbidden and parents are only allowed one child. Rapace plays 7 different characters - identical septuplets who are trying to survive in a world where they are not welcome. Her performance is truly outstanding. There are many fast-paced action scenes, but the storyline slows down at all the  right moments to let us truly appreciate the humanity of the characters. There are many twists and I definitely teared up several times. Like most dystopian settings, this movie requires some suspension of disbelief, which I have no problem with.  Honestly I wish the movie was made into a show with 10 seasons.

I also watched The Cloverfield Paradox - I haven't seen the other two Cloverfield movies, but my understanding is that they occur in a shared universe but the storylines are not related. This movie is a mix of a sci-fi space movie with a twist of thriller and a dash of horror. I felt like they took advantage of the "alternate reality" aspect to make some weird stuff happen in the movie... some that were later explained and some that were not. I prefer things to be explained, so some of it felt like just being creepy for creepy's sake.  But it was delightfully suspenseful and had plenty of twists that continued right until the end. There is also a strong emotional tone to the movie that helped me relate to it and connect with the characters.

Hope you have a fantastic weekend! Thanks for stopping by!

Stylish One-Pieces with Cupshe

Hello everyone!
As a mother of 2 and almost 6 months post partum, I am constantly pulled between wanting to express my creativity through fashion but also wanting to be modest and cover up my body's less flattering parts. Not to mention the pull of society that when you are a Mom you must not be sexy. In other words, I want to wear something that makes me feel like myself while looking classy, mom-appropriate but not frumpy. Ya feel me?

So I was surfing Pinterest (do they still call it surfing?) when I saw a really cute swimsuit. I pinned it, and then saw another and another, and thus I discovered Cupshe. I haven't personally tried any of these, but the designs are just incredible, as are the prices - all under $30!

There are dozens of adorable styles, but here are a few of my favorites! Can you tell that I'm ready for summer??

Unique Valentine's Gifts (for Him)

Happy Tuesday and Happy Valentine's Day tomorrow! I was scrolling through Pinterest looking for inspiration on what I should post for today's blog post, knowing I wanted it to be Valentine's themed some how. I came across some fun gift ideas and I though a roundup of gift ideas for men would be a fun post! These definitely don't have to be strictly for men, or strictly for Valentine's Day, but these are some unusual ideas that would definitely make for a fun (and humorous) gift!

Yep. This Intimate Art Kit  is apparently created whilst you and your partner are "knocking boots".  I'm not sure of the logistics, and I'm not sure how messy it would be, but the results definitely look beautiful! The next question is where would you display it, and what would you tell your guests when they asked about it?

If sex-art is a little to racy for you, why not make a Bacon Bouquet for your sweetheart? He can get you the real roses, and you can surprise him with these.

There's nothing like a naughty pun to get your message across on Valentine's Day. You can buy this Jalapeno Pants Card or you could make your own!

And if you are more traditional, cheesy, and creative (me) this Stone terrarium might be the perfect idea for you. You could get really creative with this and write memories, or reasons why you love him on each stone, and place them in a terrarium or any pretty container. You could also put them in a vase (for you bacon bouquet?).

What kind of gifts do you like to give on Valentine's Day?

Friday Favorites 2.9.18

OK guys, I am officially ready for spring. I don't care what the groundhog says, I've had enough of this winter! As I am typing this we have about 6 inches of snow outside. I'm quite certain the only one happy about this is my 7 year old!

So today I picked out some fun & romantic clothing pieces that I am in love with. These are all from Madison + Mallory, the boutique shop run by the YouTuber-sister-duo Eleventh Gorgeous

I adore the unique cutouts in this Cutout Hoodie Sweatshirt and you should see the back!

The sleeves of this Long Sleeved Off Shoulder Cross Front Top make my heart flutter... combined with the neckline and the loose fit I am in love!

This rose racerback lace bralette would be perfect for layering!

I am smitten with everything about this Olive Floral Print Kimono Cardigan from the color to the print (you know I love florals!)

This Blush Denim Shirt would be really awesome to layer over or under other pieces this spring!

Has Instagram Come Full Circle?

This week I watched the show End of the F***ing World on Netflix. The episodes are only about 30 minutes each and there are total of 8 episodes, so I flew through this one pretty quickly (there's only one season). I have to say, I really really liked this show. After reading the synopsis and watching the first episode I wasn't too sure if I wanted to watch the whole thing, but after episode 2 I found myself thinking about the characters and really wondering what was going to happen to them. This show was laced with dry humor and a dark undertone. While I found some of the elements predictable (I always feel proud of myself when I can predict things!) the storyline was thought-provoking and the narration from the teenage perspective made us really feel connected to the characters, even if they would be unrelatable in the real world. It's crude and uncomfortable at times, but I thoroughly enjoyed it.

We have nothing exciting planned this weekend other than meeting with our accountant to file taxes!

ColourPop Super Nova Shadows

Let's talk about the exciting new liquid glitter eyeshadows from ColourPop! They are called Supernova Shadows and retail for $7.  They are described as high-impact ultra-glittery shadows that have a metallic base, are extremely long wearing, and can be used as a base, alone, or as a topper.

Starting at top left and going clockwise:

I love these new shadows! They dry down to be transfer proof on the eyes, which means they will last all day, but you have a limited amount of time to work with them before they dry. These don't make the best eyeshadow base, they make a nice topper but my favorite way to wear them is on their own on the lid. The applicator is very nice and you can create a beautiful shape with it.

The shadows are not 100% opaque, by nature they will be a bit see-through so if want full opacity you may have to layer them multiple times, or layer them over another shadow. They work well layered over the super shock shadows!

These shadows do contain glitter, which I noticed most when I was removing them and finding specks of glitter stuck on my face! But they are very beautiful and any sparkle-lover's best friend!
Which shade is your favorite?
